What is RAR file and ZIP file?

RAR and ZIP is a file format where the files are compressed. Using a file compression program, a rar or zip file could be created from one or more original files.
The ZIP file format is a popular data compression and archival format. A ZIP file contains one or more files that have been compressed, to reduce their file size, or stored as-is.
The RAR is a proprietary file format for data compression and archiving, developed by Eugene Roshal.
RAR compression operations are typically much slower than compressing the same data with early compression algorithms like ZIP, but a much better rate of compression is achieved whenever the data can still be compressed further.
